A creative community of artists in York, established in 2018
We currently have 19 artists in residence, working in studio spaces on the vibrant Bishy Road in the South Bank area of York.

Meet the artists
There are 19 artists in residence here at South Bank Studios. Our artists work across a range of disciplines that includes painting, textile art, installation art, jewellery and metalwork, collage, printmaking, photography, theatre and social design.

York Open Studios 2026
We are delighted to have 8 of our artists taking part in York Open Studios next year.
It is Yorks longest running arts festival, taking place over two weekends in April. Over 150 York artists and makers will be taking part!

Upcoming events.
As well as providing studio space, South Bank Studios also has lots of other creative opportunities.
Our artists run art classes, a wide variety of creative workshops, as well as monthly drawing and crafting groups and even art holidays too!
We hold regular exhibitions including our annual Winter Fair in November (great for finding amazing Christmas gifts from local artists and makers), York Open Studios in April, North Yorkshire Open Studios in April and November, Studio Sales in September and other events throughout the year. We are also involved with a weekly gallery cafe too on Saturdays.
